Kate Lassiter
PhD, 500-hr RYT, YACEP
The Doctor is Yin
With a voice that calms nerves, Dr. Kate specializes in the Taoist yoga tradition and meditation practices. She came to yoga in 2008 as a way toward embodied knowing and self-love while immersed in doctoral studies. Kate draws from her vast skill set across the yogic traditions, her love and respect of the wilds, and her training in Religion and Psychology to create the conditions for students to move toward embodied wisdom and inner knowing. Her own asana practice regularly includes Yin and Vinyasa styles of yoga. She teaches in Chicago at Blue Lotus Yoga (Woodlawn) and Wildlight Yoga (Portage Park).
Kate completed her 200-hour training with Matt Eshelman at You Do Yoga, focusing on functional anatomy and Yin yoga. She completed her 500-hour training with Will Brashear at Lotus Yoga Temple, focusing on the integration of Thai Yoga and Elemental Balancing through extensive study of meridian and five element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is also trained as a prenatal yoga instructor, holistic doula, and spiritual companion, and is called to one-on-one accompaniment and care with girls, women, and anyone seeking with a sincere heart as they transition through the full physical, emotional, and spiritual spectrum of life.
When Kate isn’t on her mat, she serves as Senior Director for Lifelong Learning at Meadville Lombard Theological School. Her work directing both the Leadership Institute for Growth, Healing, and Transformation as well as the Doctor of Ministry in Social Justice Leadership brings her commitment to flourishing and holistic healing with support for religious leaders, spiritual innovators, visionary justice activists, and communities of faith. She is the author of Recognizing Other Subjects: Feminist Pastoral Theology and the Challenge of Identity and other academic writing.
